Read below to discover yours and find the best type of clothing to suit your body type.

What Body Type Are You?

To figure this out, you first begin by taking four body measurements: shoulders, bust, waist, and hips. The relationship amongst these numbers will surely reveal the shape of your frame. Therefore, grab your measuring tape, strip down to your undergarment, and let’s begin. You can make use of this body shape calculator when taking measurements & it can either be in cm’s or inches…..it’s up to you. This will nicely calculate and reveal your body shape as per the 4 body measurements below.....

1. Shoulders

Loosely wrap the tape around the very tops of your shoulders, at their broadest point above your shoulder blades. It’s easy for the tape to slip off at this spot, so a second set of hands could be useful.

2. Bust

Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your bust. Hold it tight enough that it stays in place, but not too tight that it’s compressing your chest. It’s OK if you’re measuring over a bra, especially if you typically wear one.

3. Waist

This can be a little confusing, as your natural waist is different from where the waistband of your pants generally sits. This is the narrowest part of your waist, which is usually above the belly button.

4. Hips

Here, you’re also looking for the fullest point as with your shoulders and bust. You’ll want to wrap the tape below your hip bones, around your hips and butt. With this, it’s also OK if you’re measuring over underwear.

YOUR Body Type & How To Dress For It.

Now that you know your measurements & that you can make out your body type. There are many different body shapes out there but most women align with 5 of them: apple, pear, hourglass, inverted triangle or rectangle. Knowing this will help you learn how to best dress for your body type.

3 important tips to consider when dressing for your body type

1. Balance it out - Body shape is almost entirely based on your bone structure—not your weight. Use your outfit to balance your shoulders, bust, waist, and hips.

2. Draw the eye - Use lines to focus the eye where you want it to go. They can help you create curves, lengthen, or emphasize your favorite parts of your body.

3. Think about color - Your eye is also drawn to patterns and light, bright colors more so than solid black or navy. Keep this in mind when choosing separates.
